Windows Vista - Known Issues

CIS has tested all Windows software provided on the Windows Software Distribution web page to determine Vista's compatibility in Brown's computing environment. Most software operates well on Vista, and software titles determined to be Vista-compatible are indicated with a Vista compatible on the list of Windows software applications.

Below is a list of products or services that do not run well on Vista. The ability to run certain applications can be dependent on different factors, such as: upgrading to a later version of the application, upgrading hardware to meet the requirements of the application, or running the application as Administrator or in Compatibility Mode. Should you need to run any of the software listed below, you may need to make special considerations prior to installing and using the application.

Access 2003	Must be run in Compatibility Mode. Upgrade to Access 2007.
Adobe Acrobat Pro CS2	Upgrade to currently available version
Adobe Acrobat Reader 7	Upgrade to currently available version.
ArcGIS 9.2	Versions earlier than 9.3 do not work with Vista. Upgrade to the current version.
Designer CS2	Must be run in Compatibility Mode. Upgrade to the current version.
Eudora 7.1	Requires Compatibility Mode. Save Eudora email as an archive and convert to a new CIS-supported email client.
Excel 2003	Runs in Compatibility Mode. Upgrade to Excel 2007.
Outlook 2003	Runs in Compatibility Mode. Upgrade to Outlook 2007.
Photoshop CS2	Runs in Compatibility Mode. Upgrade to the current version.
PowerPoint 2003	Runs in Compatibility Mode. Upgrade to PowerPoint 2007.
Publisher 2003	Upgrade to Publisher 2007
Remedy ARS Client 6.3	Runs in Compatibility Mode
Respondus 3.5	Run as Administrator
Sibelius 4.0	Run as Administrator
Visual Studio 2005	Vista does not support Visual Studio 2005. Must be run as Administrator.
