Product Information |
Exceed (vendor: Hummingbird)
is a Windows application that emulates an X-terminal. It allows you to connect to a Unix host and establish
an X-terminal session. All applications on the host that use the X11R6 protocol will then display their output
on your local display. Installation creates a Program Group named 'Hummingbird Connectivity v12.0.' You can customize
the software and create icons for specific X sessions using the 'Xstart' and/or 'Xsession' icons.
Version 2007 has an "Exceed 3D" component which is not installed by default.
An SSH component called Connectivity Secure Shell (CSS) allows Exceed connectivity
through an ssh connection directly, rather than through 'rexec' or 'rsh'. A slight configuration is required for
each unix host to which you will connect. See 'Getting Started' below.
Version 2007 requires selecting 'complete install' to load the Inetd services.
