This page contains links to Brown University licensed software and sources for commonly used applications. By selecting the product title, you will be linked to instructions on how to obtain the software. All Brown University licensed software products will require that you authenticate with your Brown username and password prior to permitting access to the software. Centrally supported, site licensed Unix software is distributed via a Unix fileserver. Use of this software is without charge to the Brown community. Controls are applied via license managers on the Brown network. Typical setup includes an NSF mount of the appropriate cfarm directory on the user's local mount point, possibly running an install script, and setting the license file. Software can be run over the network or can be copied to the user's local disk. Certain packages require installation on the user's desktop. The BROWN.README file in each directory on cfarm gives essential information for that package. It details the installation method, current release and supported platforms, and some startup information. Note that this web page does not provide the download - you must manually mount the desired cfarm directory.
