Faculty & Staff Stand-Alone Software Purchases

In addition to providing software titles for download that are metered by a group license manager, several applications can now be purchased as a stand-alone package for use without a connection to the Brown network.

Most stand-alone software licenses are generally available for purchase by Brown faculty and staff on an annual basis. Click on the title of the software you wish to purchase for complete licensing and purchasing details.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where and when will I pick up my software?

As soon as the media is duplicated, it will be sent to the distribution center on the first floor of the CIT Building. You will be notified by email how to obtain your software within three business days of your request.

What will it cost to renew my software if it should expire less than one year from my purchase date?

Software distributed under Brown's academic pricing purchase program is typically less than you would spend to purchase your software at retail. Due to academic pricing, most software has a limited license period of just one year before it expires. You have the following options:

  • Use the keyed version of the software.
  • Purchase the software at educational pricing until it expires. (Software license expiration dates vary among applications and may expire in less than one year depending on date of purchase.) Once expired, you may purchase a renewal for the same educational pricing.
  • Purchase the software from a retail software vendor without an expiration.
