This page contains links to Brown University licensed software and sources for commonly used applications. All Brown University licensed software products will require that you authenticate with your Brown username and password prior to permitting access to the software.

Several products are controlled by the KeyServer. You must have KeyAccess installed and be connected to the Brown University campus KeyServer to install and run these products.

Although not controlled by KeyServer, any product title having this "license managed" notation is controlled by a network license manager. You must be connected to the Brown network to use license managed software.

Indicates that the software is a Universal Binary application. These products will run on both Intel and PowerPC computers.

User guide

Clicking on a tab containing computing platform (Macintosh, Windows, UNIX) will load the software selections for the clicked platform. Clicking on a column heading will sort the table based on the clicked column.

Table Headings

• Product - the name of the product. Clicking on a product name within the table will bring you to a page providing instructions on how to obtain and install the product.
• Released - this is the date the product was released or last updated by CIS.
• Description - brief description of the product. The name of the product's author/vendor follows the description in small print.
• Restrictions - a summary of user and usage restrictions on the product.
  In most cases, products that are restricted to "on campus only" may be accessed through Brown's VPN.
  Items labeled (MSCA) are restricted to Brown University paid Faculty and Staff.
• Type - a best fit categorization of the function of the product.
