  1. Verify that you are running Macintosh OS 10.2 or later.
  2. Download CFS using the link at the end of this section.
  3. Double-click install_cfsforosx.dmg if it has not already mounted.
  4. If it is not already open, double-click on "CFS for OS X 1.0."
  5. Double-click "Brown CFS for OS X.mpkg."
  6. Click Continue at the Welcome Screen.
  7. Review the ReadMe and click Continue.
  8. Select the disk to install to and click Continue.
  9. Click Install to start the installation.
  10. When the installation is complete, click Close.
  11. Restart your Macintosh.

Notes
  1. To connect to CFS, select "Connect to Server..." from the Go menu.
  2. Enter "afp://mac.cfs.brown.edu" as the address and click Connect.
  3. Enter your NetID and password and click Connect.
  4. Select the volume labeled with your NetID and click OK.
    An icon will appear on your desktop labeled with your NetID.

Troubleshooting Tips:

If you encounter a system crash when attempting to mount your CFS volume:

  • Mount the CFS volume using the Chooser (under Classic) to perform a backup and restore.
  • When the computer appears to crash, click in some program window (other than the Finder) and use Command-Option-Escape to relaunch the Finder.
